Hello, everyone! As I live in $city, $bride has entrusted me with the Bachelorette party, which will be the evening of the $date.
She wants to go out to dinner, but other than than that just wants to be surprised. Hmmm!
I put out a call to my $city girlfriends for ideas, which I've included below. Can you please read through them and give me feedback on what you think $bride (and YOU GUYS) would like to do? Also, do you have any favorite (or non-favorite) cuisines?
Cheers,
$bridesmaidA
(hahaha and no i don't mean with electrodes. although.. the IRONY.)
The Impossible Wedding couple has a wedding site with a guest book. A couple days ago I signed it:
HELLA! congratulations you crazy kids.
Which is totally in keeping with my relationship with $Bride, our NorCal community and my personality in general.
Today I get an email from the groom announcing that he has removed my entry because, as I surely noticed from his 'about the groom' section, his family is deeply conservative. I have thus been 'sensored' [sic].
Personally I don't think it's that bad. I'm totally insulted to be censored in general, by someone I barely know, to protect the delicate sensibilites of people I don't know and couldn't care less about. But I'm going to lie down and take it because it's their wedding and shit, and I don't wanna be the bad guy or the perceived bad guy, or in any way rock the boat on This Glorious (Impossible) Day of theirs. Even though I'm making some pretty extreme commitments and sacrifices to be there. And even though she's my friend and I guarantee you 'Hella' is not the worst language we've used.
But anyway I'm livid and someone had to hear about it.
Just because i'm feeling it:
SHIT DAMN FUCK.
ahhh i feel zenner now.
Time for one of my (in)famous 'what i've been doing lately' lists: 1) So the awesome running club is this weekend, bright and early at 7am on saturday! I absolutely cannot wait! I know it's going to challenge me in at least a few ways. Going to bed early, getting up early, putting on clothes that show my jiggly bits, running in the cold with strangers... Thank you God and America for this opportunity to experience dawn and the beauty of my own physical being! Amen Amen. (do you see how i did all of that without whining??) In preparation for this adventure, I've been trying to recover from an arch strain I got right after Christmas. The gym has been super packed lately with all the NY's resolutioners, and I can't count on a treadmill when I need it, so tonight I'll probably run on the upper deck. It's basically an elevated track running around the perimeter of the 'cardio' area at the Bellevue YMCA. A dozen or more people run laps up there, all going clockwise. I wonder who decided it would be clockwise? did the first guy get up there and claim clockwise, and it stuck? Or does the first person on the track at any time get 'ops' on the direction? (does anyone know what 'ops' is, anymore?) 2) My ex-ex roommate is getting married. Originally she said there would not be a formal 'bridal party' and thus no cheesy dresses to be bought, but would four of us girls want to be in her 'special people' group, etc etc. But now we are buying matching dresses.. and let's be honest, if you're talking about shoes and taffeta swatches and discussing 'apple' versus 'crimson' and 'ivory' versus 'champagne' with 3 girls you don't know.. you're a bridesmaid. If anyone wants to come with me to david's bridal to look at 'apple' things, you are most welcome. It's a blue-ish red, FYI. The unexpected expense of this wedding probably means I'll have to bail on the DC exchange and Camp Jitterbug, this year. I'm bummed about that, but after all they will host events next year and every year. A girl only has one (first) wedding. heh. 3) For those keeping track, here are my dance/other travels as planned so far: March: Sacramento Exchange I should probably get out to 'bama again to drink gin at the VFW with The Old Man From the Sea. Also, I need to plan a trip home to Phoenix. I'm sure my mother misses me. 4) Speaking of my mom, she told me last week that she was bounced out of a club for screaming at a guy she caught cheating on her. He was thrown out too (without his car, and without his date). My mom followed him in her car as he was walking, heckling him the whole way before he finally ducked behind a bush in a vacant lot. I laughed my ass off at this. Then I called my brother, which I never do, and WE laughed our asses off. Go Mom. 5) Speaking of bouncing, I lost two lbs since New Years, on this new diet I call 'try not to eat anything, ever'. It sounds worse than it is, but it's not; actually I am not extremely willpowered. I set the bar pretty high (starvation) so that when I fail, I'm still healthy, and within the realm of typical success. See how smart I am? Doesn't it blow your mind? 6) This has turned into an epic. 7) Due to the total absence of leads (for the uninitiated: the male species of partner dancer) out at the honkey-tonks last night, I resolve never to go again unless some dancer-guy asks me to go. Instead, I'll go (solo) to west-coast dancing at Trivecca towers. I think next Tuesday they have a foxtrot lesson. Perfect for breaking in my Princess of Awesome Shoes! Ok back to work.
April: Atlanta Exchange, DC Exchange, Country Music Half-Marathon
May: Camp Jitterbug, SeattleJune: Wedding season in the bay! i hope to be in SF/area for the last 2 weeks of the month. Here's hoping.
Sept: ULHS, in Minneapolis
besides your carbon footprint, i mean?
You know, sometimes I just want to do something random, just to have put my finger on something special, and create something meaningful for someone. Most of the time it's a simple myspace comment, or an email, or a letter or a card.. Sometimes I send an unexpected gift, or share a forgotten photo-- I know how much those things mean to me when i get them, and they are really no trouble at all when i'm in the mood to do it.
JUST NOW i voted for two strangers in a contest to win them their dream wedding. Why? because it was no trouble at all, and I believe in love, and a wedding memory is the nicest thing i could give them with 15 seconds of my time. I don't know if they'll win, but ......... i feel like they might, and that it may be due to my small contribution. How amazing to share in that kind of joy, in one of the most important days of someone's life... and this was before I read their profile. God, they're cute.
If you would like to vote for Jeff and Erin, to allow them to win their dream wedding, please visit the site below and enter your email address as a validation of who-you-are (which I'm assured won't be distributed to so-and-so's and etc etc). They will win, and you will be responsible. and it is going to make your fricken day.
